[The holodeck seems to be a little like that one toy you get at Christmas which every kid wants to have a go at playing with, and if the surroundings visible through the sphere when it starts broadcasting are any indication, Lyle is no exception to the rule.

He must have been there for a few minutes because the thing's already been set to look like a pretty normal street, with the sun's shining on it. There's a young woman standing in the middle of this setting. Even if she wasn't pretty - which she is - she wouldn't be the sort of person you'd easily miss in a crowd, with her unusual colouring - light purple hair and red eyes aren't common even in Lyle's universe.

So where's Lyle in all this? He's standing off to one side with an odd smile on his face, not really doing anything other than watching.

Oh, and he hasn't realised that his sphere's on either. :D]

Is she from Earth? That sort of hair colour's not exactly standard.

We haven't reached any other planets yet, so I'm assuming that she's from Earth. [He's not going to mention that she doesn't seem to remember a lot of her own memories...]

Well, with the advancement in genetics, lavender hair could be the new blonde!

[looks amused by that idea] It's still pretty rare, Doctor. But two of the people I work with have pink or purple hair, so you might be right.

Pink hair too? Met anyone with blue or green hair as well?

Can't say I have, but you never know.

Speaking of where you work, what is it that you do with those... [searches around for the term Patrick used.] Ah, with those 'mobile suits'?

Well, I gathered that's one use for them. A giant paperweight being another.

Doc, I can't really tell you what it is I do other than the fact it's kinda related to the military.

[frowns slightly] Lyle, I don't mean any offence. I'm curious is all. I want to learn about them properly and not by...[makes a guilty face here]...you know.

Thanks. [smiles wryly] Can't be too careful, and besides which I think Tieria would kill me if he knew I was saying something even vaguely classified.

I know all about classified and information so secret, there isn't a proper term for it! [smiles encouragingly]

Tieria...should I know that name? Is that someone you work with?

Yeah, he is. He just showed up here again.

Again? [scratches his head; tieria must be one of the many people he hasn't met yet]

Is he your commanding officer? Is that why he would be cross with you for telling me this?

Yeah. He was here a while back but he vanished for a bit.

[snorts slightly] Nah, nothing like that. He just likes doing things by the book.

[mutters to himself] Hmm, like Roxas and Tsuna...

More about those suits, I suppose. I had an...interesting conversation with a young man who claims to fly one as well, but I don't know who in their right mind would let him near one!

Oh, you mean the AEU's old ace. I've heard stories about him.
