[Lyle appears to be on the beach despite the rain, and looks completely unfussed by the fact that he's now mildly moist.]

Well, what do you know. Looks like the rain just made all of that crazy pollen vanish. Just a guess, but is everyone back to their original gender now? [There's a small grin for a moment.] Allelujahs, Neil and Oliver, I'm looking at you.

[He suddenly begins looking a lot more serious than in either of his previous transmissions.]

Oh, and one more thing - did anyone else catch that weird message about five minutes ago? It might just be me, but that sounds like a chance to get a ticket out of here, assuming that our mysterious new neighbours aren't more likely to just bomb us once they've found what they wanted. What do you guys think?

A pleasure to meet you, Lyle.

[tugs at the hair covering the right side of his face]

I must sleep during the day.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Likewise.

[Raises an eyebrow.] Nocturnal, huh?

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Something along those lines.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't be the strangest thing I've seen since I got here.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you sure? I'm quite unusual, Lyle.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen frog-things switch genders right in front of my eyes, I think I'm pretty much used to strangeness by now.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm, true...

But have you ever met one of my kind?

[lifts his head and smiles wide enough to reveal rather pointy fangs in place of his canines]

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Blink. He doesn't seem too fazed, though, bizarrely.]

Vampire?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
So are all the stories true?

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on the stories you have heard.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Counts them off on his fingers] Being able to turn into bats, intolerance to sunlight, not fond of werewolves... I could go on if you like.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I cannot transform my form, though I am capable of flight.

Obviously I'm intolerant to sunlight if I sleep during the day.

And I've never had a problem with werewolves, or any other member of the lycanthrope community.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet that flying trick comes in handy.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It does.

[gives a little smile]

And you, Lyle. What of your self?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing special about me, I'm afraid. I'm just your regular normal human.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You did nothing extraordinary with your life at home?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
There wasn't really anything extraordinary to be done.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Strange that the ship would choose someone perfectly ordinary.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose that round here I'm the strange one.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It would seem so. Everyone else has some kind of story behind their lives.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I never said that I didn't have any stories. Just that mine are more ordinary than some.

[identity profile] marredgoldfinch.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Touché.
