not_that_lockon: (I'm in love with an android; but so what)

[The holodeck seems to be a little like that one toy you get at Christmas which every kid wants to have a go at playing with, and if the surroundings visible through the sphere when it starts broadcasting are any indication, Lyle is no exception to the rule.

He must have been there for a few minutes because the thing's already been set to look like a pretty normal street, with the sun's shining on it. There's a young woman standing in the middle of this setting. Even if she wasn't pretty - which she is - she wouldn't be the sort of person you'd easily miss in a crowd, with her unusual colouring - light purple hair and red eyes aren't common even in Lyle's universe.

So where's Lyle in all this? He's standing off to one side with an odd smile on his face, not really doing anything other than watching.

Oh, and he hasn't realised that his sphere's on either. :D]

O-oh! It isn't-- I-I'm truly sorry, I... I didn't know... And where you appear to be, I...

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, so THAT'S what she thought. How cute.]

I'm on the holodeck. It's still on the ship.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The holodeck?... May I ask what a holodeck is...? I-if you don't mind. If I'm interrupting something, please, feel free to let me know...

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not the first one who's come along, don't worry about it.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[T-that sort of makes it a little worse. :< Lowering her head a little, likely in apology.] Mm... I'm sorry.

The holodeck... Does it always look like that?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Should've made sure this bloody thing was off first.

[shakes his head] Nah, you can program it to look like pretty much anything you can think of.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a way to turn them off?... I didn't know...

[... She doesn't really get it. :<] Program it? Like a computer...? It must be difficult to do...

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
There should be a button somewhere.

Actually, it was pretty easy. Even if you've never seen a computer before I think you can just tell it what you want to see.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
A button... [Looks at her sphere, before slowly reaching out to it. For once, it doesn't back away, though there is just a slight jerk as though it might. A second later, it flickers off, only to come back on a second later.] Was that the right one...?

Tell it...? Do you mean by talking to it? Or by typing something in?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[he nods] Yeah, that was it.

Talking to it seemed to work.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you... It doesn't appear to be solid, but... Apparently it was after all.

... This ship truly is unusual... The spheres, the transporter, I think it was called... And now this "holodeck"... I wonder who built it all...?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a strange place, that's for sure.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It is... We have spaceships were I come from, but they are nowhere near as advanced... And we don't usually have near as many people board them either.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Mind if I ask what year it is?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That far back?

Well, since you told me I might as well do the same. It's 2312 where I'm from.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I-is that so... Somebody else from the future...?

... Do you know how this is possible, by any chance?...

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a clue, I'm afraid.

I'm Lyle, by the way. You got a name?

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I see... Thank you, regardless.

Fujino Asagami. [Bow~] It is nice to meet you, Lyle.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You too, Fujino. Is that Japanese?

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, it is, yes. Are you from somewhere outside Japan? [Or Earth, is what she'd like to ask, but she's afraid that may seem rude.]

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[... So he does come from Earth... How about that. :Oa] ... Do you have spaceships like this one where... Um, when... you are from?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Not quite like this one. But pretty close.

[identity profile] twisted-lilac.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm... Do you think this ship could have been built on Earth...? If it is possible for me to be here from 1998, and you to be here from 2312... Maybe this ship that we are on is from somewhere even further in the future...?

... It is a lot to think about, isn't it...
