[There comes a time in the affairs of man, when he simply has to stand up and take matters into his own hands. Or in this case, stand up and do what the next best thing is when you're aware of what your limits are, which is to delegate. Which is precisely what Lyle intends to do. He grins at the sphere, looking mock-thoughtful from his position leaning against a corridor wall.]

Hey, Tieria, you know about stars and things like that, right? Which one do you think looks like a good bet for trying to hit first? [smirks slightly] And if he's not forthcoming with any information, I'm more than happy to take suggestions from anyone else.

On an entirely different note, if it's possible for anyone to point me in the direction of something that resembles a rifle, I'd be eternally grateful. [not that he's entirely optimistic about the likelihood of any sort of firearm being available on a luxury cruise ship, but you never rule anything out, especially in this place.]

Hey, Neil. If something does turn up and I don't have to go all the way back to square one with this crazy idea, do you fancy trying to hit this thing together? Just think, we could be civilised and take turns.

You could try the stores? But you'd have to get up awful high to be able to shoot the ceiling!

[considers for a moment] I'm trying to see if we can get as many stars as possible in Aquarius. It is Ganymede, in one legend, so I think it's worth a try. Either that or Scorpius, Orion's killer.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm optimistic.

[slightly blank look] I think I might need a quick history lesson.
oliverplus: (Questioning)

[personal profile] oliverplus 2009-04-18 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
More like mythology, but what do you want to know?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Who Aquarius and his mysterious one-time alter-ego Ganymede are, for a start.
oliverplus: (Explaining)

[personal profile] oliverplus 2009-04-18 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Aquarius is just the water-bearer, and it really depends what mythology you're looking at.

But Ganymede was basically this beautiful Trojan boy that the god Zeus fell in love with. He carried him off in the form of an eagle--that's the constellation Aquila--and made him his cup-bearer. And later he put him in the sky as Aquarius.

I've heard the phrase "shooting for the stars," but this is ridiculous.

Well, someone already shot the sun, apparently.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That is pretty impressive. But the sun's a relatively larger target.

[identity profile] sos-chorus.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but it's still a surprise. How can someone be that good at archery?!

Maybe there's paintball guns in one of the shops? Or someone could modify a squirt gun?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think trying to paintball the stars comes under one of the crazier ideas that I've heard in my life.

[identity profile] sos-chorus.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know. It's something Haruhi would come up with.... only she'd do it for fun instead of trying to find a hidden message somewhere.

Considering someone's using a spud launcher (http://deathgrins.livejournal.com/2115.html) it's all I could come up with.

[identity profile] tofindhappiness.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Kazuhiko has a gun, but it's also a part of his hand, so I don't think you'd be able to use it.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd rather save using people's body parts as a last resort.

[identity profile] tofindhappiness.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully you won't have to use any at all.

I take it you're a good shot?

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like to think I'm not too bad.

[identity profile] tofindhappiness.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[laughs a little]

Which means yes.

[personal profile] bloodyrose 2009-04-18 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
A short while back I came across a store that seemed to be designed with marksmen & hunters in mind. You might find something there.

[identity profile] not-that-lockon.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the tip. I'll see if I can find anything.

I've already looked around most of the shops and haven't found any guns, but if you manage to find something I wouldn't mind taking turns.

((I asked Rem the other... early morning and she told me there weren't any guns for sale on board. You can always re-ask since my memory's a bit foggy?))

Ah well, it was worth a shot.

That Kyon kid suggested a paintball gun, though, and even if that didn't work it'd still be fun.

[grin appears slowly as an idea hits him] You know... if we use a paintball gun, we'll be able to see which stars we already hit, I reckon.

((I'll ask Rem about there possibly being a paintball gun on board and come back with an answer. :3))

I didn't actually think of that.

[identity profile] innovatorless.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You will not hit any star.

Your lack of confidence really hurts, you know.
