[Well, some time during his previous wanderings in the forest Lyle happened to come across a dagger and he's now sitting pretty in some get-up that looks a little like this. He's also since discovered that he's suddenly a lot more agile - which explains why he's now sitting comfortably in the branches of one of the trees.

... or at least, he was until a group of archers suddenly started shooting at him, almost making him tumble from the tree in surprise. And they don't look very friendly.]

What the hell--?!

[okay, better plan. He'll just be shimmying down this tree really fast now and running away, with the sphere happily recording every detail of this misadventure. There is no shame in running from a group of archers when you are one man with a dagger!]

Okay, the running from people I've done before, but they didn't have arrows. [As if to illustrate his point, one of the aforementioned arrows whooshes over his right shoulder. Yep, he'll just be running until he finds a place to lose them or he finds something in these new clothes that'll help him get out of this situation!]

Er... hi? [waves with a sheepish grin]

[the fairy seems surprised at that and flies back a distance to hide behind one of the tree people, peeking out from behind it]

I think you scared it, Neil. [calls to it, feeling a liiiitle silly] Hey, you can come out. We're not going to hurt you.

[fffffff, putting hands down at either side]

Honest, I didn't mean anything but to say hello.

[the fairy seems to consider this for a second, head cocked to the side, before it flies closer, almost directly in front of Neil's face, and waves experimentally]

[he smiles gently at it, making sure to keep his voice down]

There you go.

[The fairy smiles at him and turns to wave its fellows over, indicating that neither of them are a threat. Pretty soon there's a whole crowd of them fluttering around their heads]

Huh. Quite a friendly bunch, these supernatural creatures, aren't they?

You can say that again.

I feel a little like a supernatural Christmas tree right now, though.

If anything, our other friends would be able to pass as that. [still watching them fly around as he jabs his thumb up at one of the trees]

[It looks like one of the fairies heard you, Neil, as they flit towards one of the trees and sit in some of the smaller twigs, dangling their legs and giggling]

[Lyle is rather amused by this.] Like that, you mean?

[He starts laughing as he watches them sit up there.]

Exactly like that.

[Grins at them] Is it comfy up there?

[The fairies nod yes and smile back, still giggling. Such nice humans these two turned out to be!]

[He smiles up at them as well while the tree twists its trunk a bit to get a better look at its visitors, but makes no motion to get them off. If anything, it watches them with curiosity.]

[murmurs] Fairies and walking trees. What next.

You might want to be careful what you say. [pauses a moment before calling up to the fairies] Excuse me, but could you possibly tell us what else lives in this area of the forest?

[The fairies start miming - something with four legs, and a horn?]

[watches them curiously for a bit before nudging Lyle]

You have any idea what they're trying to say?

[... he thinks he has an idea, but he's not sure.]

I'm thinking either a mutant rhino or a unicorn.

It's probably the latter or the two.

[glances up at the fairies who are now looking at something behind them and giggling like mad]

What...?

[turning around now]
